Helvellyn - the first ascent - Sept 2002
Set off from Gillside campsite in Glenridding. Some blue sky visible!
Got to Red Tarn and still looked clear, so we headed up Swirral Edge
Got to the top. Mist down, wind howling - no visibility, time to come down!
Back down, knee trouble for my companion hence walked down backwards to the Travellers
Route - Glenridding - Lantys Tarn - Hole in the Wall - Red Tarn - Swirral Edge - Helvellyn - Swirral Edge - Red Tarn - Glenridding via Green side Mine
Weather: Good at the start - but just as we got to the top the mist decending and the wind was blowing!
