Day 54, Blair Atholl to Linn of Dee. If anybody ever wonders about the folly of walking E2E, let them walk where we walked today. This was a FANTASTIC day. An easy 22 miles in an awesome valley with perfect views and perfect sunshine. The only sounds that we heard all day were the water in the burn and the breeze. The air is so pure that you can taste it. There is incredible wildlife and the day was brought to a magical conclusion by a pair of Stags who appeared as if by magic, to watch us leave their garden. ~ this is a walking day made in heaven. (can you tell that I enjoyed today!).

Day 55, Linn of Dee to Aviemore. Another superb day walking through the Cairngorm mountains. We wore T-shirts and enjoyed endless views in perfect sunshine as we finally passed the snow capped peaks that we have been seeing ahead of us for the past four days. Kevin/Ian/Steph/etc. you should book a couple of sunshine days and come here ~ you will LOVE walking here!

Day 56, Aviemore to Tomatin. The locals must have seen Alan approaching!

Day 57, Tomatin to Inverness. We were very pleased to see our new drivers Ivan & Jane at the end of a long, wet day. We sloshed and slid in ankle deep mud with saturated feet, 3 miles up a 2000 foot hill with zero visibility in driving sleet. I could feel the water on my eyebrows freezing but at last we found the Trig point. The problem was that our route has no Trig point ~ it was the wrong hill and the only way down was to retrace our steps (What's an extra 6 miles on the E2E)!
