View from Fairfield towards Windermere
View towards St Sunday Crag from Fairfield - by now you’ve done all the hard work!
A great walk with some stunning views on a good day - and quieter than the usual
throngs on Helvellyn. Set off from Patterdale up Grisedale Valley. Got to Grisedale
Tarn in glorious sunshine. One of the most picturesque tarns in the Lakes. Set off
up Fairfield for a steep but fairly short ascent. Views to the west and north make
a good excuse to stop and catch your breath on the way up. Having got to the top
of Fairfield you might as well do St Sunday Crag as well - and fairly steep descent
down and then a fairly easy drag along the ridge to the top. Again stunning panoramic
views all the way along the top of St Sunday crag, and as you descend back into the
Grisedale Valley the views towards Ullswater and down onto Patterdale and Glenridding
are simply superb. Anyway enough on the superlatives - go and enjoy it for yourself!
