Weather: Overcast with occasional bursts of sunshine and rain
A (relatively!) gentle walk with stunning views, weather permitting down to Ullswater,
Glenridding, Patterdale and Brotherswater, and to High Street to the east and the
Helvellyn range to the west. Set off from Patterdale and follow the path along the
side of Ullswater to Sandwick. From there head up to the summit of Place Fell. Fairly
gradual slope down although be prepared to meet plenty of people coming the other
way as the usual ascent is straight up from Patterdale to Boredale Hause. Great views
from the summit even on a bad day like this. Quick ascent back down to Patterdale
via Boredale Hause -
