PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING ADVICE FOR WALKERS PARTICIPATING IN ANY OF THE PATTERDALE PARISH BOUNDARY WALKS. PEOPLE TAKE PART ENTIRELY AT THEIR OWN RISK.
- Everyone taking part must belong to a Team
- Teams should have 3 or more people
- Teams should be experienced and fit and able to complete the Walk
- Young people under 16 should not take part in the Main Boundary Walk
- Teams should follow the relevant routes for “Main Walk”, “The Second Half” and the “Patterdale Parish Walk” using the 1:25000 Ordnance Survey Map
- Teams must start at at the relevant time and place see guidance for the “Main Walk”, “The Second Half” and the “Patterdale Parish Walk”
- All walks finish at Patterdale School
- Patterdale School is the Control Centre (Tel: 017684 82383)
- It is essential that everyone reports to Patterdale School at the end of the relevant walk so they can be checked out. This includes people who have dropped out - who should report from the valley bottom and not from the fell!
- People within each Team should keep together all the time and should not split up
- If one Team member wishes to drop out, the other team members should take responsibility and make sure he or she is safe and reports to Patterdale School
- If a Team member becomes a casualty, one member should stay with the casualty while another reports to Patterdale School
- If there is an accident Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team may be called out in the normal way by a 999 call. Our thanks as always to the Rescue Team
- Everyone should carry a map, compass, whistle, wet weather gear, first-aid kit, food, water, torch, spare batteries, mobile phone (note reception is variable and Vodafone is the main mobile network in the area)
- Sunrise is at 4:40am. Sunset is at 9:50pm.
- Every Team must have a recognition name, e.g. THE SNAILS
- The weather can be very bad with heavy rain and high winds, even in Summer.
